Jon Abbaticchio – Store Manager

I started at Domino’s in 2009 while I was in high school as an in-store team member. Now, as a Store Manager more than a decade later, I am responsible for the supervision of staff, hiring and training, rostering, inventory management, sales building, and improvement of KPIs, as well as ensuring the smooth operations of the store by upholding a high standard of product, service, and image. I work alongside an incredible team of Assistant Store Managers, Delivery Experts, and team members every day who help to ensure all of our customers have an enjoyable experience, receive a hot, fresh meal, and great customer service with a smile! What I love about working at Domino’s is the great culture we foster and the amazing opportunities we can provide to our people. Benjamin Skelton – Delivery Expert

As a Delivery Expert, I am responsible for safely delivering piping hot pizzas to customers in my local area. At Domino’s, we are proud to use e-bikes as part of our delivery fleet to help reduce our environmental impact and provide a fun, safe and active way for our team members to deliver pizzas to customers. I enjoy making deliveries using e-bikes because it gives me the opportunity to get outside and exercise while working! I love working at Domino’s because everyone is always so friendly, but the best part about my job is seeing our customers faces light up every time we arrive at their door with their favourite pizza order.

Kaitlin Moore – In-store Team Member/Shift Runner

I started at Domino’s in 2016 as an in-store team member helping to make the dough, prepare pizzas and take customer orders. Over the past five years, I have gained valuable experience in all areas of the store and am now a Shift Runner! In my current role, I help to manage the running of the store during busy periods by cutting and boxing pizzas, helping to dispatch drivers on deliveries, and training new team members on different stations. I enjoy working at Domino’s while studying at university because it has given me the flexibility to work in a job that I love, while I study for my future!

Health & Safety

Delivery Experts

At Domino’s, we put our people first, which means every single Delivery Expert you see out on the street is fully employed by Domino’s! They are not independent contractors or sole traders; they are Domino’s team members. They are a part of our Domino’s family.

The ongoing safety of our team members is our number one priority – because nothing is more important than safety. To ensure our Delivery Experts and fellow road users remain safe, we have implemented a number of proactive safety measures, including providing safety equipment such as high visibility vests and helmets; undertaking regular vehicle maintenance and safety checks; conducting mandatory safety training, and utilising technology like GPS Driver Tracker to monitor speed and harshness of driving at all times.

We have also implemented a number of safety procedures designed specifically for our delivery fleet. For example, Delivery Experts must always maintain a valid and current driver’s licence relevant for their delivery vehicle and must have completed Domino’s rigorous online training requirements prior to commencement of their first shift. Additionally, e-bike and scooter riders are required to pass a practical competency assessment prior to undertaking any deliveries.

Because we make thousands of safe deliveries every single week to homes across Australia, we will always be focused on being slow where it matters in making every pizza right, and fast where it counts in hustling them out the door, while keeping safety at the forefront, both in-store and out on the roads. We’re all about that #hustle – but doing it safely.

COVID-19

Rest assured, the health and safety of our team members is our highest priority. And that’s never been more important than during a global pandemic.

While we already had strict hygiene and handling procedures in place, which included frequent hand washing and sanitisation, with systems in place to make sure these are carried out regularly.

In response to the pandemic, we have also implemented several additional health and safety measures to keep our team members safe including:

  • Domino’s Zero Contact Delivery, Pick Up and Car Park Delivery to keep a safe distance between our team members and customers
  • Closing customer dine-in areas (where directed by the government) and removing high-risk customer touchpoints like napkin and straw holders and handheld menus
  • Face masks for all team members when working in-store or on delivery (where directed by the government). Please note: valid medical exemption applies
  • Asking customers to
    • Practice social distancing in our foyers and maintain a safe distance from the counter
    • Wait outside to collect their meal when it is ready
    • Wear a face mask (where directed by the government)
    • Use contactless payment methods to limit the use of cash
  • Establishing a step-by-step safety procedure should a team member become ill at work or be identified as a close contact.

Community Giving

At Domino’s, we are committed to supporting the local communities in which we operate and doing the right thing because it’s the right thing to do.

In recent times, we have donated thousands of safe, hot meals to frontline workers across Australia during the COVID-19 pandemic; supported emergency disaster relief efforts in partnership with our registered charity Give for Good and implemented a national Feed the Knead program – providing localised support in the form of free pizza to those doing it tough. At the end of the day, we’re always looking for ways to put a smile on people’s faces and give back.

FAQs for parents

What is the minimum age policy?

As you may know, each state and territory in Australia has its own requirements regarding the minimum age of employment and the conditions that apply! At Domino’s, we apply the minimum age policy of 13-years-old, except where state-specific legislation applies, in order to create a safe work environment for young people to grow and prosper.

If your child is invited to an interview and is younger than 16-years-old, you will need to provide consent during the application process. You will also need to provide consent for your child to start work at Domino’s should your child be offered a position. 

What award are Domino’s employees employed under?

What type of shifts are available at Domino’s?

Open to deliver piping hot pizzas to customers to enjoy for lunch, dinner (and every snack occasion in-between) Domino’s stores provide a range of shift opportunities, including:

  • Morning shifts (which can commence as early as 9am)
  • Lunchtime shifts (which can commence from 11am)
  • Evening shifts (which can cover dinner and late evening times from 5pm)

We acknowledge that some Domino’s stores across Australia operate with extended or reduced trading hours based on location.

What is the minimum shift length?

Regardless of whether your child is hired as an in-store worker or a Delivery Expert, the minimum shift length at Domino’s is three hours.

What kind of training will my child receive at Domino’s?

Upon commencement of employment with Domino’s, team members complete a series of mandatory training modules that cover:

  • New Employee Orientation
  • Workplace Health and Safety Training
  • Food Safety Training
  • Customer Service Training
  • Safe Delivery Training (for Delivery Experts)

Once mandatory training is complete, a range of structured training and development pathways are available which teach advanced skills in operations, management, leadership, business and customer service.  Domino’s has a ‘promote from within’ culture which means that our managers and leaders are developed within the brand.

Some stores also have a nationally recognised training available delivered through an RTO.

How are you keeping team members safe during COVID-19?

Will working at Domino’s interfere with my child’s school commitments?

Not at all. At Domino’s, we believe that school and your child’s education should always come first!

Thanks to our flexible rostering system, team members are able to manage their studies, work, and other personal commitments to ensure neither are compromised.

How does my child apply for a job at Domino’s?

Applying for a job at Domino’s is simple!

All you need to do is head to the Domino’s Jobs website and click ‘apply’ to see what jobs are available in your local area. Using the search filter makes it easy to see what type of roles are available, and in which suburbs.

My child has been hired by Domino’s. What do they need to do before starting work?

Before any Domino’s employee commences their first shift, they are required to fill out:

  • Personal details forms (including contact information, bank account details, etc)
  • A Tax File Number Declaration form
  • A Superannuation Standard Choice form

Depending on the state, they may also need to complete a parent consent form in line with the state-based child employment laws.

If they are hired as an e-bike rider or driver, employees under 18-years-old need to complete a GPS Tracker Photography consent form which includes a parent/guardian signature.

Does my child have to pay for their uniform?

Domino’s employees are not required to pay for their standard issue uniform (i.e., shirt, badge, and hat) upfront, however, if the uniform is not returned at the end of their employment, the funds may be deducted from your child’s final week of wages.  Additional uniforms are available at the employee’s expense.

Does my child need a driver’s licence to become a Delivery Expert?

Yes. Delivery Experts driving a car or scooter must hold a current and valid licence that is legally allowed by the relevant Road Transport Authority in their specific state.

E-bike riders must be aged at least 16 years old and have a valid learner’s permit or driver’s licence. For the purpose of riding an e-bike, the learner’s permit or licence can be for either a car or motorcycle.

Does my child need their own car to be a Delivery Expert?

Not necessarily. At Domino’s, scooters are available for those with the appropriate motorcycle licence. Some stores also have a fleet of Domino’s cars, but there is no guarantee these will be available.

Some stores also have e-bikes that are available to use, however, if your child chooses to ride these bikes they will be required to hold at least a learner’s licence, attend a training course, and undergo assessment.

Why do all deliveries have to be GPS tracked?

Domino’s GPS tracking system monitors all deliveries for the purposes of streamlining the delivery process, improving team member safety, and providing the customer with a real-time view of their delivery driver travelling towards their house.

It is a requirement of employment that every Domino’s Delivery Expert agrees to have their vehicle tracked whilst undertaking deliveries.

What if my child receives a speeding ticket or fine?

At Domino’s, we are focused on being slow where it matters in making every pizza right, and fast where it counts in hustling them out the door while keeping safety at the forefront, both in-store and out on the roads.

We require our team to always follow the road rules. If your child does receive an infringement notice, they will be responsible for paying any related fines.
