Women are under-represented and under-appreciated in many industries, not least STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Mathematics), but that doesn\u2019t mean there isn\u2019t a powerhouse of women doing extraordinary things.<\/p>\n

For International Day of Women and Girls in Science 2023, we wanted to shine a big bright spotlight on just a handful of them.<\/p>\n

In so doing, we hope you\u2019ll see a bit of representation and feel inspired by where a STEM career might take you.<\/p>\n

What is the International Day of Women and Girls in Science?<\/strong><\/h4>\n

According to the United Nations, science and gender equality are vital for achieving internationally agreed development goals – this includes raising access for women and girls into the fields of science and technology. The global community has made a lot of effort to inspire and engage women and girls in science. While things are improving, we still have a long way to go.<\/p>\n

Since 2015, the 11th of February has been acknowledged as the International Day of Women and Girls in Science<\/a>.<\/p>\n

The UN sees this as a global opportunity for organisations to celebrate and make visible women’s work across STEM subjects and industries and, in doing so, keep increasing engagement and access for girls everywhere to pursue careers in the sector.<\/p>\n

The day aims to address vital areas of inequality, including:<\/p>\n
