Our Diploma of Travel and Tourism is designed to set you up for success and help you start your exciting career in travel. Online or virtual classrooms, full-time or part-time, a career inside or outside of the Flight Centre Travel Group, the choice is yours. The Diploma of Travel and Tourism offers insight into the diverse tourism industry from knowledge provided first hand from Australia’s largest travel company, Flight Centre.

The content delivered and systems you train on, are always current and in line with the ever-changing industry. This course offers an insight into diverse areas of the tourism industry heading first hand from industry experts and employers, where students will understand the difference between various parts of the tourism industry, destination management and effective organisational structures. You will develop specialised knowledge in various travel styles and a variety of airlines, cruises, tours and hotels, including how to use this information to ensure you are meeting customers’ needs.

Our Diploma of Travel and Tourism is a tertiary (university) level qualification. It makes up the first year of a Bachelor’s degree with Torrens University Australia. Upon graduation, you can progress straight into the second year of a Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management) with Torrens University. After 2 more years of study, you can graduate with a Bachelor’s degree.

Diploma of Travel & Tourism

Delivered in conjunction with our partner Torrens University Australia, the Diploma of Travel and Tourism has been designed to provide graduates with a broad base of travel and tourism knowledge and skills suitable for employment.

Bachelor of Business

Take the next step in your education journey

Commencing your studies with the Diploma of Travel and Tourism is a great option if you don’t have an ATAR score, have been out of study for a while, or currently don’t meet the direct entry requirements for university. Plus, your first year will be spent learning directly from one of the pioneers and global leaders of the travel agent industry.

Our Diploma gives you guaranteed direct entry into year two of any of the following Bachelor of Business pathways:

  • Bachelor of Business
  • Bachelor of Business (Marketing)
  • Bachelor of Business (Events Management)
  • Bachelor of Business (Sports Management)
  • Bachelor of Business (Entrepreneurship)
  • Bachelor of Business (Tourism Management)
  • Bachelor of Business (Hospitality Management)

Graduate with a Bachelor of Business and you’ll be job-ready to move into a management role in a leading organisation or launch your own business as an entrepreneur.

Throughout the course, you will develop the skills to research, analyse and interpret the international and domestic business environments; create effective marketing plans; and identify exciting and strategic business opportunities.

We have teamed up with our hotel industry network so you can start your study with us, while giving you recruitment opportunities in the hotel and tourism industry (and making all important connections), for a perfect start to your travel and tourism career when combined with our Travel and Tourism Diploma.

  • WORK: Prioritised recruitment process for suitable part-time or casual position with one of our hotel partners
  • STUDY: Part-time enrolment in our university level Diploma of Travel and Tourism (this is mandatory as part of the program)
  • PLAY: All our opportunities are in popular tourist destinations with a perfect work / life / study balance and a fun group working environment

Our Work, Study + Play program includes priority employment application processing with one of our hotel partners. While we will work with you to complete the employment process, you will still be required to go through a standard screening process with our hotel partners to ensure your suitability for the roles available.

The employment opportunities include Food & Beverage, Room Attendant and Guest Services roles.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR ENROLLING IN THE DIPLOMA:

The employment opportunities with the hotels under this program are only available when also enrolling in our Diploma of Travel and Tourism. You must meet the following eligibility criteria to enrol in our Diploma:

  • Completed Year 12 OR Cert IV or higher; and
  • Australian and NZ citizen or permanent resident

FEE help

Serious about studying a Diploma of Travel & Tourism but looking to defer some or all of your payment? You may be eligible for the Australian Government’s FEE-HELP service.

What is FEE-HELP?

Our delivery partner, Torrens University Australia is a recognised Higher Education Provider. This means that eligible students have the opportunity to apply for FEE-HELP to defer payment of some, or all, of their tuition fees.

How do I apply?

If you receive an offer from Travel Academy and Torrens University Australia, you will also receive a Request for FEE-HELP Assistance Form that you will need to complete to defer payment of some, or all, of your tuition fees. You will need to quote your tax file number or provide a Certificate of Application for a Tax File Number. The form must be returned to Torrens University Australia before the commencement date of your course.

Am I eligible for FEE-HELP?

You are eligible for FEE-HELP assistance for a unit of study if you:
  • are undertaking study with an approved provider
  • meet the citizenship and residency requirements;
    • you are an Australian citizen or a New Zealand Special Category Visa holder who meets the long-term residency criteria and who will undertake, in Australia, at least one unit of study contributing to your course; OR
    • you are a permanent humanitarian visa holder who will be resident in Australia for the duration of your unit; OR
    • you are a permanent visa holder who is undertaking bridging study for overseas-trained professionals, and will be resident in Australia for the duration of the study;
  • are enrolled in an eligible unit of study by the census date for the unit;
  • have not exceeded the FEE-HELP limit
